Trainers have applied those words to all sorts of training exercises, generally in business. Why are they universally understood? The quote applies to all areas of our lives. It especially applies to ....


My observation is that most companies don't have a recruiting plan. Recruiting in most organizations falls into one of two camps:


Camp #1: Let's run ads and sit back passively waiting for the right candidate to fall into our lap. This is a strategy based on luck and hope.


Camp #2: Let's throw some "s___" against the wall and hope - perhaps pray - something works. When it doesn't work, let's rinse and repeat because we don't know what else to do. Another great effective strategy for recruiting.


Is it any wonder why most companies struggle to hire - without a solid best practice-based recruiting strategy your doomed to bring average, mediocre, minimally qualified candidates to the table every time. - Barry

I find it interesting all these articles on the 2 worst, 5 bad, 7 terrible. What strikes me as odd is that many of these lists are nothing more than subjective perceptions. There is no research, quantification, actual study that identifies which are the right mistakes.


In fact, the vast majority of information consumed through blogs is nothing more than conjecture, assumptions, and biased opinions. Occassionally you come across a great blog author who does their research and bases their comments on fundamental information collected in a quantitative or scientific approach - Barry
